2008 Maytag Centennial Washing Machine Should be on recall

Sounds like a train.

This is the 3rd Timer Repair - Now needs New Motor - New Water Level Switch

Best Buy Extended Warranty - They "Do Not" tell you that you will get Refurbished Parts

Used Parts - Third Timer they will not give me a Replacement - One month no machine

Just got call they feel it is better to service this garbage - Hello - 3rd Timer - Needs Motor - Needs

Water Level Switch/Part

Called Maytag - They said they will not honor their product - Why should we buy products when

American Companies Do Not Stand Behind Their Garbage -

Don't Buy Maytag - Don't bother with extended warranties - if all you get is months without

An appliance only to get more garbage (ie parts refurbished) put back in the appliance!!

Location: Newark, New Jersey

I have a maytag centennial washer. I hate it, because it has an automatic water level..

that doesn't give me enough water to clean my clothes, I have to stand there several minuites with it and wait till it stops filling up which it don't it stops right at the clothes I want it to fill up more so my clothes have room to move around, my time is precious, I walk away and need to do something else and forget to run back and open and close the top lid to get it to fill up somemore... I hate it, and that H e detergent too.

Our experience was the same. Maytag doesn't care.

They feed you the company line. No more Maytags or Whirlpools for ;us.

I purchased a Maytag Bravo set from Sears in 2011. I got a clearance price of $1399.00. In about a year my washer started to rust from the inside out surfacing from under the bleach dispenser, this internal rusting rusted out the hinges on the lid causing it not to close then the hinges broke completely and now the lid slams shut if not carefully closed.

Maytag called the internal rusting cosmetic. The actual definition of cosmetic is:

Full Definition of COSMETIC

1: of, relating to, or making for beauty especially of the complexion : beautifying

2: done or made for the sake of appearance: decorative, ornamental not substantive : superficial

3: visually appealing

Not what the english dictionary would consider the internal rusting of my washing machine to be!

Maytag offered to sell me a repair plus warranty which she couldn't tell me the price of because she couldn't get in the system so her suggestion was to call back later. I was also told that if I had anyone come and look at it before purchasing the repair warranty the offer would be rescinded. When researching my issues I found this to be a very common problem as well as many many others. The amount of money spent on these machines is ridiculous and Maytag needs to spend more time money and effort to help their consumers or soon they won't have any!

Literally the worst purchase I have ever made!!!

I agree the Maytag Centennial could be a piece of junk .From the beginning it ne'er got the garments cleansed, was loud and currently when three yrs. it's unseaworthy oil everywhere my garments.

I had a service man out for two alternative broken appliances and he aforesaid it's in all probability the transmission leaking- nice. He aforesaid this is often a standard drawback. wherever is that the recall???

I will not waste cash on a repair- time for a brand new machine and NOT a Maytag. :cry

The Maytag MVWC300XW0 I bought in December 2011 is ***, too. It will not clean any of my clothing, leaving minor food stains in my Wranglers.

I have started using the Heavy Duty heavy cycle with the extra rinse and it is marginally better.

What a huge waste of my money. I'm looking for a decent washing machine, so I can give this junk away.

Agree this washer is useless. Might as well save your money & wash your clothes by hand. you'll be much happier with the results!!!

I bought a Speed Queen AWN432. What a RADICAL difference!

My old Maytag could be compared to a rock in a stream and the Speed Queen would be the best washer I ever had. Plus it has a 3 year parts and labor warranty and a 5 year on tub and motor and a 10 year on the transmission.

I am one very happy camper! It actually gets my clothes clean the first time!

I have found an exceptional washer. I have had a Speed Queen AWN432 washer for about 4 months, and it is an exceptional "old school" washer.

It cleans my stuff, I can add stuff (OK to open the door while running, but not while spinning), and it does not take all day to wash my clothes. I am now a happy camper!

Anyone want to buy my Maytag? It runs as well as it did the day I bought it...

My maytag wasjunketing stop filling up so that it's overflowing.

Wont agitate, nothing. Just fills up on water. It will not drain on its own

Unless I put it on a drain cycle. Also the lid doesn't stay locked.

Very disappointed I thought I was getting a quality piece of equipment. Such a waste of money, will never buy maytag again. :sigh

Got my Maytag Centennial MVWC400XW2 15 months ago and it started to act up right after the one year warranty. Its useless right now and I will never buy a Maytag product ever again.

Thought I was doing the right thing buying a machine that is sensitive to water use and uses HE detergent. Unreal!

Me too!

I bought one against my better judgement and absolutely hate it. The clothes do not come out clean.

Biggest piece of expensive junk I ever bought.

They should have a recall of all machine in this line. JUNK.

Ditto, ditto, ditto. Horrible machine.

I purchased a new Magtag Centennial clothes washer and it broke down after three months of light use. It's covered by warranty but will take five weeks to get parts and service.

Repair person actually told me that the clothes washer was junk. I won't be buying Maytag again.

Wanted another Maytag Washer. Previous washer lasted many years during 80's & 90's..Great product then. Served my family of 6. Dependable.

Never needed the lonely Maytag repairman.

Got BlackFriday deal from Home Depot (good deal but bad product) Washer Model MVWC300VW Dryer Model MEDC400VW Issues: washer fills but does not advance, wash, spin or drain. Also drum & lid replaced under warranty for rust is rusting again.

Home Depot will nothing because I did not purchase extended warrenty

Does that mean they sell inferior seconds that actually need more warranty.

I've been insulted by Charlie @ Home Depot when I called to ask how to return washer. Told to call Maytag due to OOW.

Was told by Maytag that I can't have Home Depot Customer Care representative on the phone with me to help resolve issues re:

washer fills but does not advance, wash, spin or drain. Also drum & lid replaced under warranty for rust is rusting again. Maytag states too bad...machine past warranty....Why would Maytag replace drum that rusts with another that rusts??? Then tell me to call parts to buy new drum??? I'm not even 3 years into ownership on product with lower lifespan of maybe 10years instead of 20years----an American standard.

So aggravated with Maytag quality & unwillingness to stand behind product (riding the "old school" reputation of the real Maytag Corp.)

So aggravated with Home Depot who never returned a phone call since Jan 2,2012 about this issue. Except from agent Mamie @ the Home Depot Customer Care 888 #. She did call back after I requested 1st agent (who twice stated she will call to update me) to escalate this matter to her supervisor. Mamie who acted kind, caring and professional.

What a frustrating terrible experience... just expecting a product that works....instead of the lemon I was sold.

*** me! My daughter even worked for Lowe's during this time... But no!! I just had to have the Maytag offered at HomeDepot...Because I thought it would last many years til I died (I'm old).

I finally bailed water out of machine after 3 weeks & tried to towel dry. But now the mildew smell from rest of water is affecting my breathing condition and had to go to hospital.

....Why is neither party making this right for a customer of 20 years who was foolish enough to be enticed by their great, Black Friday deal.

Quality product? Haw! Good deal? Haw!

Contacted 3 used appliance dealers to purchase broken washer.

Responses: 1)No Matags 2)Maytag but not Centennial Model

3) Nothing but junk.

The dryer has worked fine although noisy.

Maytag said I was "one in a million" to have this trouble.

Are there any other victims of this "lemon unload" out there??

Or is it only me that got .......?

Same with me. No more Maytag. Probably no more Whirlpool as they bought out Maytag.
