Total pieces of garbage. I don't know why I switched from Kenmore to Maytag but stupidly I did.

We've had nothing but problems with both machines since around the time the extended warranty purchased through Sears was about to expire. Then it became too expensive to renew the contract so we had to troubleshoot and repair on our own. The dryer had a circuit out and the door hinge cracked in half (cost us the price of a hinge and a soldering iron). The horrific odor of the HE front loader washer has been a HUGE issue.

The door is always kept propped open when not in use, I purchased the cleaner made specifically for this brand, but still the odor persists which then transfers to the clothing, so then back into the wash they go, and 10% of the time I would be dealing with an Suds error code. Now the code is constant despite every tip and trick we've read. The washer's pump went (over $150 for part), the rubber door gasket ripped ($90 for part, but we never replaced it, just duct taped it) and now we had a perpetual F35 Suds error code. All the obvious fixes for that have been performed (checking hoses, etc) and since this washer has had so many problems and we foresee many more we are tossing it to the curb.

Contacting Maytag was a joke, they don't stand by their products. Pinpointing the new problem and ordering parts ourselves and then hoping that it fixes the problem means more time without a washer and fun trips to the laundromat. A service call to a certified tech plus parts (and more than likely would have to be ordered so that's another delay and yet another day off work to install them) would be about what a new washer costs.

So it was an expensive lesson learned - always read reviews before buying a major appliance. The bells & whistles of these high end appliances mean diddly if they only work half the time.

Reason of review: Damaged or defective.

Monetary Loss: $1000.

Preferred solution: Reimbursement for the parts I replaced .

I have never bought a new digital washer, preferring older models without computerization. I got my used but in great condition Whirlpool washer off E-Bay and I have zero issues and know if there is an issue its inexpensive to fix. I suggest you try the new or used older models in great condition route.
