Never get extended warranty.

Dryer I think has burned out bearings. Maytag repairman over 3 times this week and the problem is worse! He claimed he has replaced every part including the motor. Sounds like a scorched cat inside when I turn it on. Either belt or bearings. He did not repair the washer right either. They are junk and their repairmen are incompetent will never get extended warranty since they can't seem to fix them. If they send over the same knucklehead a 4th time I am going to stuff him inside and let him listen to the screeching for an hour.

Didn't wash clothes properly. Liquid detergent is dispensed with water in 3 second intervals as drum is turning. Some clothes get a squirt of detergent but no water. The clothes become stained from the dye in detergent. By the time the machine has enough water in it to start washing [approximately one fourth full] the stain from detergent has set and does not come out. When washing ONE full size bed comforter, the machine is moving the load, part of the comfortable remains over the center of the drum and does not get agitated- WASHED- it remains dirty.

So I posted pictures of the Maytag washed blanket which clearly shows dirty and stains under black light. I took the same blanket to the laundry matt and posted new pictures showing nice/clean and no stains under black light. You can tell which pictures are which.

Updated by user Aug 17, 2019

I was told this machine can wash queen size blankets really good. Ok.

I smeared thin patches of honey on my queen blanket and washed it. Did it all come out. NO, so I washed it again still can see spots. How good dose this machine wash?

I took the blanket in a dark room and shined a black light on it.

I was shocked at all the glowing spots and smears. (see pictures) I bagged that blanket up and its going to a laundry matt to be washed.

Updated by user Aug 13, 2019

I started a load of Normal/sensing wash. Its been washing I put it on pause looked inside I see no water just a twisted pants and wet clothes, so I restarted it and waited to hear if more water will go in; NOpe.

It went right into rinse without spinning. You can't tell me these clothes were washed. I had to cancel the cycle; untangle the clothes and put it on Bulky/sheet deep water.

So I'm always going to have use bulk/sheets and deep water in order to use this machine. I may as well go to a coin laundry.

I hate this machine. When we bought this Maytag MVWC565FW1 from ABC Warehouse we were told the only type of machines now are Commercial Technology (you can not choose your water level) the salesmen said we can try it out for a few weeks. well I did. It can not wash blankets or comforters they just float on top like a big air pillow and each time I look in the machine (I pressed the pause button) nothing changed, so I have to go to a laundry matt for those. This machine is suppose to clean clothes by rubbing things together with little water. My new clothes I just bought for summer which are cotton/blend look like they are five years old. Piling/bumps all over them. I'll have to take a clothes shaver to them. When I take the clothes out of the dryer they do not smell clean like they use to. I went and put on a pair of shorts that was washed in that machine and there was what look like smudges on them. I had to take a wipe in the car to try to get them out before golf so I wouldn't look like I put on a pair of dirty shorts. Numerous times I had to cancel the cycle (because there is no changing the cycle) to reset it to the Deep water because I could tell nothing was getting washed with no water in it, but that empties out everything to where I have to start all over even if it is only a half of load. They just want to save water with this auto sensing water level but its not saving anything when I have to empty to restart the cycle and sometimes the deep water is more water than I need. Do these people think we can't figure out how much water we need? Some things look like its getting washed but I say 80% of the loads I know are not getting clean like the old style machine did. Now ABC Warehouse is telling me they don't return used washer (They keep asking; did you get the extended warranty?) than what did the sales person mean by; "you can try it" and I would have to say I gave my best effort for the past three weeks with emailing (you) Maytag and all I got was; "you should try this" or "try doing this" which was wasting my time. I have tried it all. Looks like I'm stuck going to the laundry matt and using only the Bulky/sheets cycle; Deep water for everything.

Laundromat equals laundry matt???

In McAllen, Texas, they call it a "Washateria". I was staying in a No-Tell in McAllen and asked for a Laundromat from several Hispanic people who acted like they didn't know what in the world that I was talking about.

Finally, after acting confused, one Hispanic lady said "Oh, you mean a WASHATERIA!" I found the place and the place didn't sell detergent.

So I asked fellow Hispanic Washateria customers if they would sell me a cup full and they all declined. I went back to my no-tell motel and knocked on the door, and a regular American white guy gave me a scoop of detergent for free, and refused my offer of giving him money for it.

BEWARE of all MAYTAG appliances

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We purchased a model home in 2018 from a builder a year and a half ago. The builder put all Maytag appliances in the house in 2016. I still have the plaque in each appliance the says 10 year limited warranty and let me tell you, the warranty is more than limited. It pretty much covers NOTHING!!! We have had an issue with every appliance and nothing is covered. The ice maker broke only a few months after we moved in, the microwave light cannot be turned off (so it burns 24 hours a day) and now the double ovens are not cooking to temperature. The upper oven bakes 25 to 40 degrees under what it is set and the bottom oven burns everything. So people, pay attention, do NOT purchase MAYTAG because you will be sorry if you do.

Bought and had installed in a kitchen remodel in May 2012. Came with a 10 year warranty on certain parts. The dishracks were part of that warranty. Both dishracks have flaws in the plastic coating over the metal so that the metal is rusting in a few spots. When I called several months ago the person said they would send the upper rack and the other rack wasn't available. Never got any kind of follow-up. Checking today I see the racks are not available and will not be available. No longer produced and it has only been 7 years. I guess my thought was since it was Maytag it would last forever and the warranty was a nice plus. Come to find out the warranty is a joke. Do not pay any more for a Maytag than you would for any other cheap dishwasher. Think of it more like a throwaway once something breaks.

Bought 5.2 cubic foot Maytag washer at Costco. Timing mechanism is not consistent. 95% of the time, the wash cycle is only 5 MINUTES. This is with the settings at max for the dirtiest clothes AND the deep clean button pushed. Called Maytag service number. They could not help. Suggested I call a repair man. REALLY? Repair man could not tell me why it was doing this or even WHAT controlled timing. Really? Notice that they don't even sell this particular unit anymore. Wonder why. Costco replaced the unit. Guess what? It does the same thing.

Don't buy

my washer does not drain and that is after almost a 2 hour wash cycle and an over a 2 hour dry cycle - I usually have to hang them over the banister to get fully dry.. They have sent some repair men out but it didn't fix the problem They have deleted my comments from their website and basically have ignored my concerns. I have had them less than a year.

My washer was 18 months old. Of course, out of the normal warranty. That fake-ass 10 year warranty stamp doesn't cover anything. We are just a 2 person household and do normal washing. Our gearcase broke and leaked water all over the floor. Maytag decided not to cover this part. Our appliance repair guy who owns the company said he has never seen this problem in a washer under 5-6 years old. We chose not to pay the 400.00 to repair and just bought a new LG Washer. Screw Maytag.

Maytag - Nothing but bad!!
I agree that Maytag seems to be junk. I'm on my second Bravo XL MVWB885DC3. First one had the control panel replaced twice in 18 months. When it went out a 3rd time Lowe's bought out my washer because they couldn't get parts in a timely manner to repair it. Like an idiot I took that money and went and bought the exact same washer. Now 10 months later I'm have the same problem again. Flashing E2 F6 error. This is the 4th time this has happen to two different washers and it takes forever to get repaired not to mention the cost of going to the laundry mat for a month.

This washer needs to be recalled and customers compensated.... I will be happy with an exchange or a sizable loss.

Of course, the company is reputable but come on, do you use this machine in your house? What an awful machine. 1. Not enough water in loading2.

Clothes do not rinse in enough water3. Why does the machine have to lockI hope there will be traditional washers out there?

I will certainly be more diligent in choosing my next washer. Who ever tested this washer...certainly not any women!Well that's my two cents.

Original review Jan 17, 2020
It has a large drum but if I put in a comfortable load, it doesn't come out clean. Dirty wash water settles in clothes creases...ugh! The wash water doesn't even cover the dirty clothes when start the wash cycle. I sure wish I could get rid of it and get a standard machine back. Tell me, where can I get a washer that fills and agitates and where clothes come out clean????

I have had mine less than a year, and I HATE it. no matter what you put in it it takes up to an hour to wash, never enough water to get the clothes good and wet, and it really does not clean well at all, and the thought of having to wash my clothes twice drives me crazy, I want my old Kenmore back, I may look for a working old 2nd hand washer and try to get a few $$ for this machine. Shame on you Maytag.

I thought we were making a great choice upgrading from an old off brand washer and dryer. Spent money on "best" model... the Bravos washer is junk! Clothes come out still dirty, not even wet in spots, and all my dark loads have white residue on them! I don't use liquid softener and very little soap, but the darks look awful, I have to run 2 more rinse cycles to get them clean... on top of the extra rinse cycle I ALWAYS select with every load! How is that saving water? I have 3 boys in my house and dirty clothes need to be cleaned! The last straw for me was when one of my sons brought me a pair of "clean" underwear from his drawer and there were *** streaks still in them... not stains, but *** I am shopping for a good old machine with an agitator and one that uses water to wash the clothes. What a waste of a LOT of money... very disappointing of Maytag...
